Bluff City Cemetery Walk
The iconic Bluff City Cemetery Walk in Elgin will be held on Sunday, September 24th from 11am-3pm. Not only can you learn the history of some of Elgin's residents, but we also invite you to explore the cemetery's architecture. Cemeteries have long been spaces of innovation and reinvention in art, architecture, and design. In the 19th century, some of the most visionary resting places for human souls were designed in this decade alone. - “open-air museums,” a treasure trove of art, architecture, and design from the 19th and 20th centuries. Among the eclectic array of styles—including Byzantine, neoclassical, Art Nouveau, modernist, postmodern and works of Italian Modernism. Costumed tour guides will lead visitors to meet amazing characters while also revealing the history of the cemetery along the way.
